Supplies:
      Every student will be expected to bring a  binder, pencil or pen, and books as noted on the assignment board each morning. Each student will keep a planner in their binder for writing assignments.  Binders should be kept neat and organized in this order:  pencil bag, planner, Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies dividers.  Even though most binders have pockets we encourage the students to place every paper in its proper subject.
A red folder will be used as a Tuesday folder to go home with the student and return signed on Wednesday.

Tardies and Absences
  We hope to see each of our students every day of the school year, but we understand that absences and tardies are sometimes necessary. Hopefully the following information will explain the policies regarding these instances. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
   The school day begins each morning at 8:35 a.m. They must be in their seat for the televised announcements. Televised announcements are at 8:55. If a student arrives after 8:55, a tardy slip from the office is required.
   If your child should be absent from school, please send a note with the child on the day he or she returns. When a student is absent for 3 or more days, parents may request missing assignments by calling the school prior to 9:00 a.m. 936-709-7300. It is our policy not to give make-up work before an absence occurs. The student may complete the work upon the return to the classroom.
   When the child returns from an absence, he or she will be given a form listing the assignments for each class. If the student should be absent the day of a test, the student may arrange a time to come in before or after school to make up the test. It has been our experience that students do not have enough time to make up test during lunch. Students are not expected to make up a test the first day upon returning to class but should make every effort to complete their missed work within their allotted make-up time.

Communicator Chart:
Each child has a communicator page/conduct sheet.  Infractions of classroom or school rules will result in a mark being placed on your child's page.  The sum of the marks results in the letter received on the Tuesday folder page each week.  These marks, averaged together, are used for conduct received each nine weeks on the report card. The communicator chart is not only used for conduct but for effort and the ability to be prepared for class on a daily basis (responsibility).
        No Marks = Excellent (E)
        1 -2 Marks = Satisfactory (S)
        3 - 4 Marks = Needs Improvement (NI)
        5 + Marks = Unsatisfactory (U)
Grading scale, late work, projects:
Grading will be in accordance with CISD grading policies. Projects will be posted in the assignment link. The following late work policy serves to promote independence and responsibility in each learner.
Student daily grade or major grade work will be accepted at a 10 point deduction for each day late. After three days the grade will result in a zero.
Conferences
During the year, you may have questions or concerns that would be best addressed in a parent/teacher conference. Our team is available from 2:50-3:20 for conferencing with parents. Team conferencing offers the unique opportunity for you to communicate with the teachers working with your child in academic areas. Our goal is to provide the best situation possible for your child's learning experience. If you would like to schedule a conference, please call the front office (936-709-7300), or send a note with your child so that we can schedule a time for you. If we need to visit with you about your child, we will call or make a note on your child's agenda to suggest possible times. We want to keep the lines of communication open. Please don't hesitate to call.
Planners
Each student has been given a planner. He/she is expected to write the homework assignments and scheduled tests in the planner. Parents are asked to check their child's agenda every day to keep abreast of the day's activities.
 Planners are also needed everyday as they are used as signed hall passes to go to the office, counselor, library or other rooms as necessary.
